Attackers need computing power. They need bandwidth. They need IP addresses that appear legitimate. Your home connection provides all three.

When you become part of a botnet, your resources are leased out to the highest bidder. This might mean launching a DDoS attack against a competitor. Or spreading malware to other victims. The profit goes to the cracker. The risk goes to you.

How Crackers Gain Entry
