Apple has released iOS 26.4, bringing a range of updates to iPhone users. The release includes new emoji, enhancements to Apple Music, accessibility improvements, and several bug fixes. The update is available now through the Settings app.

What’s New in iOS 26.4

The latest iOS version introduces several key features designed to enhance user experience. The most notable updates include the addition of eight new emoji, video podcast support in Apple Podcasts, and a playlist generator for Apple Music subscribers.

New Emoji

The iOS 26.4 update adds eight new emoji to the iPhone keyboard, bringing the total available options to an even greater number. These additions include:

  • Orca
  • Landslide
  • Trombone
  • Fight cloud
  • Distorted face
  • Ballet dancers
  • Treasure chest
  • Hairy creature (Sasquatch)

These emoji were approved by the Unicode Consortium in September as part of Unicode 17.0 and are now available for use in messaging and other applications.

Video Podcasts in Apple Podcasts

Apple Podcasts now supports video playback. Users can watch video podcasts directly within the Podcasts app. The feature is activated through a video player icon on episodes and can be toggled on or off during playback.

Playlist Playground in Apple Music

Apple Music subscribers can now use Playlist Playground, a beta feature that generates playlists based on user-provided descriptions. The tool creates playlists with titles, tracklists, and descriptions. Apple notes that the feature is experimental and may produce unexpected results.

Enhanced Accessibility Features

iOS 26.4 includes improvements to accessibility settings, particularly with the addition of “Reduce Bright Effects.” This feature minimizes screen flashes and highlighting to reduce distractions for users sensitive to bright animations.

Concerts Feature in Apple Music

The Apple Music app now includes a Concerts tab, allowing users to discover nearby live music events. The feature recommends shows based on listening habits and provides information on dates, times, and ticket availability.

Shazam Offline Mode

Shazam can now identify songs even without an internet connection. The app stores recognition requests and delivers results once the device is back online.

Ambient Music Widgets

Two new Ambient Music widgets have been added for the iPhone home screen, providing quick access to curated playlists such as Sleep, Chill, Productivity, and Wellbeing. These playlists were originally introduced in iOS 18.4.

Family Sharing Payment Options

Adults within Family Sharing groups can now use their own payment methods for purchases, eliminating the need to rely on the group organizer’s payment information.

Improved Subtitle Customization

The iOS 26.4 update provides more control over subtitle styles in apps such as Apple TV, allowing users to adjust size, outline, and background transparency.

Wallpaper Management

Users can now manage wallpaper collections more efficiently, deleting unwanted collections to free up storage space.

Other Updates and Fixes

The iOS 26.4 release also includes the following enhancements:

  • Support for AirPods Max 2
  • Advanced image creation tools for Freeform
  • Urgent reminder marking options
  • Improved keyboard accuracy

This update addresses key areas of functionality, improving user experience across Apple devices. The changes are designed to make the iPhone more versatile and accessible.
